Atlanta — For the airline industry, the economic turbulence in the stock market and the banking industry brings more uncertainty and weaker demand for corporate and leisure travel.

Airline stocks have been dropping with the rest of the stock market. Atlanta-based Delta’s shares closed at $5.66 Thursday, up 2 cents from Wednesday’s close but down 33.8 percent from the price on Oct. 1 — just eight days earlier.

Atlanta — Delta Air Lines plans to block inappropriate Web sites from its in-flight Wi-Fi service to be launched later this year.

Delta previously announced it planned to rely on flight attendants to handle inappropriate situations, such as pornography surfing. But after feedback from customers and attendants, the airline changed its policy and is working with Wi-Fi provider Aircell to use a system to block inappropriate content. Don't they rent blankets? Another lost opportunity for revenue...

Atlanta — Delta Air Lines is starting a process to integrate flight attendant seniority lists in its proposed merger with Northwest Airlines, and will form a committee to represent its flight attendants’ interests.

Atlanta-based Delta sent a memo to its flight attendants outlining a process for an election next month of a flight attendant seniority integration committee.

Atlanta — Delta Air Lines conducted its first Wi-Fi test flight as it prepares for its first passenger flight with the Internet service in early November.

Delta installed the system on an MD-88 and an employee successfully sent an e-mail message from the plane while in flight Tuesday. I wonder if the employee tried to post a message on the DELTAreallySUCKS.com forum...

Airlines Begin Selling Boarding Pass Ads PDF Print E-mail

Minneapolis — Several major airlines (including Delta) will begin displaying ads on boarding passes for customers who check in from home. Customers can print the boarding passes without ads if they want; however, the ads will still be forced on the customers as part of the process.
