| Communication (or lack thereof) Sometimes keeping the lines of communication open is all that it takes to minimize problems. Delta does neither. |

For my entire life I always counted on Delta to take me where I wanted to go and do it in a timely and professional manner, and for years they always did this. But that came to a screeching halt ten years ago when they suddenly discovered that passengers could be treated like cattle and lied to during the process. I made the mistake of flying to Atlanta to attend a wedding and when I tried to come back to Boston Delta showed me their true feelings for their passengers. we were late boarding the plane, kept on the runway for three hours with no A/C in blistering heat. At the end of the three hours our dear Captain said we were returning to the gate so we could stretch our legs, at this time we taxied to an obscure part of the terminal, far from where we boarded. The doors were opened and we were informed they would top off the fuel tanks and we would bo on our way so stretch your legs if you want. As I went back into the terminal I noticed our flight crew, all of them, quickly going out the other door with bags in hand, never to be seen again. The young lady at the check-in counter was left to face the quite happy, by now, stranded passengers and answers she had to provide was that Boston was having severe weather and flights were being diverted. Calling family in Boston I was informed that everyone was out in the back yard enjoying the beautiful day. Eventual herding onto a bus and lodging at a 1/2 star hotel at the end of the runway for the night let us be the proud recipients of transport to Boston the next afternoon on a plane that most likely transported livestock the day before. A letter to Delta officials asking for some type of explanation basically told me, "TOUGH SHIT", We run the airline industry not you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My wish for my dear friends in the corporate offices of Delta is that you may soon join the other wonderful people at Eastern Airlines, T.W.A. etc, but long before you collect your measely little bonuses of only a couple of million dollars apiece. HAVE A NICE FLIGHT! |

First, my apologies to Led Zeppelin. They don't suck. Delta, on the other hand, REALLY SUCKS!
As much as I despise government involvement in pretty much anything, I think it is almost essential that someone in Washington, D.C. take some initiative (and show some balls) and reign in the outrageous behavior of the airline industry in general. They don't seem to be able to this themselves, so maybe it's time for someone that can to do so. What do you think? Let's hear from the thousands of readers yet to register and post here. |

A familiar story. My wife & daughter are stuck in Mineapolis, MN. Started in Rochester, MN where counter personell lied and lied. Flight has been cancelled due to fog, but no fog. Put them on bus and told to St Paul and told them that the flight out of St Paul was delayed and should be able to make connection. Another lie. Flight was on time and left without them. Also, after sitting on the bus for an hour, they took them off of the bus and put into a taxi. BS. At St. Paul they arranged flight for tomarrow and put them up in a 1/4 star hotel with $7.00 each. Might cover the tip to eat. I would like to see the executives of Delta eat for $7.00 each in St. Paul, MN. I believe that they overbooked the flight out of St. Paul and intentionally delayed the passengers from Rochester so they could send them later. Spring break is in. My wife met some of the other delayed passengers in St. Paul. One of these passengers said that the plane that was supposedly cancelled came and went from the Rochester airport, unannounced. What a crock! Lie after LIE after LIE. Well, maybe they will make it home tomarrow. They have been gone for 3 1/2 weeks, what is one more day. I wish the executives the best at Delta. I wish the airline would fail and leave them with nothing as they deserve. I have never seen such mismanagement in any other airline. I have traveled over the world for years now, other airlines, and I can tell you Delta is the worst!

I write this from Charleston airport. It is 1:40 a.m., or four hours since my daughter's flight from Atlanta was supposed to leave. I have been checking the Delta web site for updates and talking with my daughter by cell phone. Throughout the night, what Delta has said at its web site has been totally out of sync with what they were telling my daughter at the gate. Gate attendants actually told waiting passengers that they did not know where the plane from Miami was (it was going through to Charleston). Yet the web site said it had arrived 25 minutes earlier. Then they made all the passengers -- a full plane of them -- go to a gate at the far end of the concourse. When they got there, the gate attendant announced that the arriving plane's bags could not be off-loaded because there weren't any baggage handlers. Yet the web site indicated the passengers were boarding the plane. They didn't board the plane for another 45 minutes. Whoever invented the quote "lies, and damnable lies" probably flew Delta. Communication that bad cannot be innocent.
